Broiler-type set and placements continue to trend below year ago levels.
The USDA says 229.501 million broiler-type eggs were set into incubators last week, up from the previous week, but down 3% from a year ago due to industry uncertainties about sustained demand.
The average hatchability rate did decline slightly, while remaining just above 80%.
Placements of broiler-type chicks for meat production were reported at 178.882 million head, below both the prior week and this time last year due to the lower sets in recent weeks.
