A mild temperature pattern for December across much of the Heartland

Looking ahead, the 6- to 10-day outlook calls for the likelihood of near- or above-normal temperatures nationwide, except for cooler-than-normal conditions in portions of the Gulf Coast region. 

Meanwhile, below-normal precipitation in most areas from California to the Mississippi Valley should contrast with wetter-than-normal weather across the southern tip of Texas, the eastern U.S., and from the Pacific Northwest to the northern High Plains.
