A biofuels expert says he’s optimistic about the nation’s ethanol exports in 2024.
Monte Shaw, executive director of the Iowa Renewable Fuels Association, says exports gained some steam in 2023. “It was a solid year. Over a billion gallons of production goes overseas. Think of that as 10, 12 or 13 of your standard 100 million gallon per year plants operating because we have an export market.”
He tells Brownfield many countries are seeking low carbon fuel options and the U.S.
