Jon P. Alvarez – Voice Of Muscatine

Jon P. Alvarez, 58, of Wilton, passed away on Friday, December 29, 2023, in Muscatine.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 4, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Snyder & Hollenbaugh Funeral & Cremation Services of Muscatine.  Funeral services will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be directed to the Muskies Baseball Travel League in memory of Jon.  Sympathy notes may be left for the family at  

Jon Paul Alvarez was born on January 1, 1965, in Mason City, Iowa, the son of Bivian John and Jane Ann (Thornblade) Alvarez.  He was a 1983 graduate of Davenport West and then attended Scott Community College and Hawkeye Truck Driving School in Waterloo.  Jon proudly served his country in the United States Army.  On May 22, 1985, Jon was united in marriage to Donna Jean Ince in Davenport.  He was a truck driver of Tan Tara of Muscatine and was a part time cook for Hy-Vee on the grill.  Jon was an avid Iowa Hawkeyes and Minnesota Vikings fan, unless the Vikings were losing and then he quickly switched to his Buffalo Bills shirt which was under his Vikings shirt.  He also enjoyed coaching baseball, riding motorcycles, hunting, golfing, cookouts, watching his son dirt bike and his dogs “Skye” and “Guido”, but most of all, Jon loved to spend time with his family and provide for them.   

Jon will be deeply missed by his wife, Donna of Wilton; his children, Lance Alvarez of Wilton and Myranda Alvarez-Peden and her husband, Nate of Wilton; grandchildren, Adrais, Aiden, Aynslea, Addison, Asher, Jaxon, Emilia, Layla and Nathan; father, Bivian “John” and Debra) of Aledo, Illinois and siblings, James Alvarez of Wilton, Joanne (Mark) Tilley of Dayton, Tennessee, Tonya Nichol of Aledo, Illinois, Dawn (Rodney) Voss of Edgewood, and Sonny (Amy) Alvarez of Walcott.     .

Jon was preceded in death by his mother, Jane and paternal and maternal grandparents.
