The director of the Missouri Department of Agriculture says emergency rules are now in effect for Governor Mike Parson’s executive order on foreign ag land ownership.
Chris Chinn says any Missouri landowner who wants to sell the land to a foreign entity must now report to the department before making the sale.
“Before, it was within 30 days of the transaction,” she says. “The biggest change is we want to be notified prior to the transaction happening so if it goes over a 1% threshold we can stop the transaction.”
She says additional rules for the executive order are now available for public comment and can be found on the Missouri Ag Department’s website.
