Minnesota Representative Angie Craig told the House Agriculture Committee Wednesday the U.S. has a unique opportunity to get the sustainable aviation fuel industry off the ground. She told Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack she’s waiting for word from an interagency group updating the GREET model for calculating greenhouse gas emissions. Craig asked, “Can we expect those updates to be announced on March 1st as originally directed in the December guidance from Treasury, and if not, when shall we expect them?”
Secretary Vilsack told the committee, “The conversation has been positive in terms of expanded access to feedstocks to produce SAF, and I’m confident that there is a genuine desire on the part of all of the agencies and the White House to meet that March first deadline.”
The administration proposes to reach 35 billion gallons of sustainable aviation fuel production by 2030.
