Charles Sterner, 78, passed away on Tuesday, February 20, 2024, at UnityPoint Bettendorf.
Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Pastor Bill Walker will officiate.
Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 24, 2024, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Red Barn Kennels. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Charlie was born on June 23, 1945, in New Boston, Illinois, the son of Merle Sr. and Nira Yerington Sterner. He married Rosella ‘Rosie’ Peppel on May 15, 1987, in Muscatine.
Charlie was a member of the Glad Tidings church.
Charlie enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and going to the casino. He loved going on vacations and spending time with his family, especially his dog, Chico.
Charlie is survived by his wife, Rosie; children, Russell Bellinger and wife, Miriam, Lisa Land and her husband, Duane, Rita Lipke, Jeremy Peppel, Heather Flick and husband, Darren, Amelia Brumett and husband, Tony; 12 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; sister, Charlene Shoppa; and several nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Merle Jr., Nellie Lowe, Shirley Dismer, Bertha Schroeder, and Nina Vanwinkle; and great grandson, Ezekial Starnes.
