Missouri farmers say some soil moisture has been replenished this winter, but dry conditions linger and any additional rains are welcome.
Northeast Missouri farmer Matt Wright says “we had several different snow events and at one point, we came close to 15 inches (of snow) and I thought that would help us out a lot, but it was amazing how fast that dried up once it melted. I’m assuming the ground must have been frozen and a lot of it ran off.”
Wright says the runoff has been good for ponds and he’s optimistic for more soaking rains before planting season begins.
