Lois Jean Kerschinske, 88, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at the Kavanaugh House in Des Moines, IA.
Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Willie Rosin of Zion Lutheran Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Tom Kelly, Nathaniel Lenz, Ron Castle, Aaron Castle, Jamie Faidley, and Owen Stump. Honorary pallbearer will be Tyson Castle.
Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 12, 2024, at the funeral home. In Lois’ honor, memorials may be made to It Takes a Village Animal Rescue, 1510 Grandview Ave, Suite 1, Muscatine, Iowa. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Lois was born on October 6, 1935, in Muscatine, the daughter of Robert and Clara Hammann Ranberger and her stepfather, John ‘Ludie’ Wendinger. She married Curtis Howard Kerschinske on May 28, 1955, in Muscatine.
Lois was a graduate of Muscatine High School, class of 1954. She was a lifetime member of the Zion Lutheran Church and worked at F.W. Woolworth Company, Kent Feeds, and later retired from Dr. A. and Mrs. Mac Lennan’s optometry.
Lois enjoyed nature, being outdoors, feeding wildlife, and doing yard work. She loved antiquing with her husband.
Lois is survived by her daughters, Debra Lenz and partner, Owen Stump, and Tracy Castle and husband, Ron; grandchildren, Tyson Castle (Sarah), Aaron Castle (Chloe), Nathaniel Lenz (Jenn), and Nicole Faidley (Jamie); great grandchildren, Fiona Faidley, Wynn Faidley, Bode Faidley, Nile Castle, Oliver Castle, Eleanore Castle, and Maya Castle.
She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Ranberger; mother, Clara Wendinger; stepfather, John ‘Ludie’ Wendinger; and her husband, Curtis Kerschinske.
