Leroy S. Spaulding, 95, passed away on Tuesday, June 25, 2024, at Lutheran Living.
Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Zion Lutheran Church. Pastor Willie Rosin will officiate. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024, at the Church. Memorials may be made to the family to be distributed to different charities. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Leroy was born on January 18, 1929, in Muscatine, the son of Stanley and Annabel L. Hamlin Spaulding. He married Barbara L. Severs on November 17, 1951, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
Leroy graduated in 1947 from Muscatine High School. He then enlisted in the Army. After serving in the Army, he worked for Alcoa until his retirement. Leroy was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, American Legion, and ELKS.
Leroy enjoyed bowling, traveling, and boating. Leroy loved hunting and shooting at his nephew’s ranch in Texas and was an avid gun enthusiast. He enjoyed fishing and especially trips to Lake Michigan and was an outdoorsman.
He will be deeply missed by his daughter, Sharon K. Herlein and husband, Randy, of North Liberty; grandchildren, Jay Herlein of North Liberty and Abigail Herlein of Denver, Colorado; brothers, Larry Spaulding and wife, Sally, and Robert Spaulding and wife, JoAnn; sisters, Helen Funk and Judy Rogers.
He is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Barbara; son, Michael S. Spaulding; sister, Mary Dwyer; and brothers-in-law, Dave Funk, Wayne Rogers, and Larry Dwyer.
