Twyla Jean Stauffer – Voice Of Muscatine


Twyla Stauffer, 85, of West Liberty, passed away on Friday, August 9, 2024, at Simpson Memorial Home, West Liberty, IA.

Funeral Service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 14, 2024, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Paul Brooks will officiate. Burial will take place at Island Cemetery, Fruitland, Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Simpson Memorial Home in West Liberty, IA. Online condolences: www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Twyla was born on December 22, 1938, in Muscatine, Iowa, the daughter of John Hardin and Sylvia Hazel Fisher Davis. She married Richard D. Stauffer on July 18, 1985, at the First Christian Church in Muscatine, Iowa. He preceded her in death on November 5, 2017.

Twyla was a nurse’s aide at Muscatine General Hospital and went on to work for and retire from the Muscatine School system. Her hobbies included painting, doll making and crafting. She dearly loved spending time with her family and thoroughly enjoyed cooking special meals for them.

Those left behind to honor her memory include her children, Keith (Judy) Hoag, Worden, Illinois, Dale(Joyce) Hoag, Muscatine, Iowa, Steve(Brenda) Hoag, Illinois City, Illinois, Kevin(Carol) Hoag, Mechanicsville, Iowa, Dean (Kari)Hoag, Aberdeen, North Carolina, Pete (Pauline) Stauffer, Moline, Illinois, Gary (Wendy) Stauffer, Muscatine, Iowa, Mark (Brooke) Stauffer, West Haven, Connecticut, and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her siblings and her grandson, Brock Hoag.
