Two public hearings and three proclamations are on the Muscatine City Council agenda for its September 5 meeting. Muscatine Mayor Brad Bark will also present the Oath of Office for Interim City Administrator Tony Kies, and seek approval for appointing Suzanne Hunt Theilmann to the Civil Service Commission.
The public is welcomed, and encouraged, to attend in person when the Council meets at 6 p.m. Thursday in the City Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall. The meetings are open to all individuals regardless of language spoken or disability. Any person requiring a reasonable accommodation to participate should contact the City Clerk’s office at 563-264-1500.
Mayor Bark will read three proclamations setting Sept. 8-14 as National Assisted Living Week in Muscatine, September 30 as Orange Shirt Day, and October 2 as the 2024 Healthiest State Annual Walk Day.
The first of two public hearings concerns changing the term limits for the Airport Advisory Commission while the second is on the proposed development agreement with Merge, LLC.
Also on the agenda for Council consideration are:
- Set Sept. 19 for a public hearing on changes to city code in regards to the Historic Preservation Commission;
- Set Sept. 19 for a public hearing on a state revolving fund loan for Phase 6C of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project;
- Sept. Oct. 3 for a public hearing on the October 2024 amendment to the Muscatine Consolidated Urban Renewal Area;
- Approve contract with Unified Contracting Services, Inc., for the Airport Fuel System Relocation Project; and,
- Approve contract with MidAmerica Basement Systems for the underpinning project at Sunset Park.
