A change of quarterback led to a second half outburst as the Hawkeyes defeated Northwestern 40-14 at Kinnick Stadium. Former Northwestern quarterback Brendan Sullivan revived a stagnant Hawkeye offense in relief of Cade McNamara, rushing for 41 yards while sparking a 28 point third quarter. Caleb Johnson also rushed for 109 yards, with the majority of the yards and three touchdowns coming in that third quarter.
The Hawkeye defense stymied the Wildcats all day, holding them to 163 total yards. The lone bright spot for the Wildcats was walk on freshman David Wagner’s 72 yard punt return for a touchdown.
