The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is recruiting dependable, hard workers to fill 2025 seasonal positions at a variety of locations including the Municipal Golf Course, Aquatic Center, Riverside Park Boat Harbor and Marina, Greenwood Cemetery, Kent Stein Park, and the Soccer Complex. There are also opportunities with Parks Maintenance and assisting with various Recreation Programs.

Current seasonal opportunities include:

  • Aquatic Center Manager ($20.00/hr): Oversee operations of the Aquatic Center including but not limited to, performing water chemistry tests, patron swim tests, and scheduling Aquatic Center staff. Lifeguard certification is required for this position.
  • Assistant Aquatic Center Manager ($15.00/hr): Assist in the operations of the Aquatic Center including, but not limited to, assisting the Manager, performing patron swim tests, assisting in scheduling staff, and acting as Aquatic Center Manager in their absence. Lifeguard certification is required for this position.
  • Swim Lessons Coordinator ($14.00/hr): Manages Aquatic Center swim lesson programs, assigns staff to classes, performs swim lessons program evaluations. Lifeguard certification is required for this position.
  • Lifeguard ($13.00/hr): Oversight of swimmers at the aquatic center. Lifeguard certification is required for this position.
  • Slide Attendant ($13.00/hr): Supervise patrons utilizing slides at the Muscatine Aquatic Center. CPR/AED Certification is required. Must be 14 years of age to work at the Muscatine Aquatic Center.
  • Cashier ($13.00/hr): Greet patrons to Aquatic Center, process transactions, sell additional items as needed, answer the front desk phone.
  • Lead Groundskeeper ($16.00/hr): Must be able to safely use equipment such as riding mowers, push mowers, string trimmers and other groundskeeping equipment. This position assists in mowing, groundskeeping, and maintaining the green spaces and facilities throughout the City of Muscatine parks system. Must be able to attain pesticide applicator license in categories 3OT, 5 and 6. Some weekend hours may be required.
  • Seasonal Groundskeeper ($14.00/hr): Must be able to safely use equipment such as push mowers, string trimmers and other groundskeeping equipment. This position assists in groundskeeping and maintaining the green spaces and facilities at various park sites.
  • On-Site Supervisor – Soccer ($13.00/hr): This position oversees user groups at the soccer complex. Position is responsible to assist user groups with various needs and ensure complex rules are followed. Must be able to interact professionally and courteously with members of the public, engage in some physical labor (such as emptying trash, cleaning restrooms). Excellent customer service skills and ability to work evenings is required.
  • Gas Dock Cashier ($13.00/hr): Perform gas or diesel fueling process on the Muscatine Gas Dock, operate a cash register and credit card reader. Perform pump-out duties when requested.

Full Time Opportunity with Muscatine Fire Department

Fire Fighter (Minimum $53,580 annually): Opportunity for training and experience in a wide variety of emergency and non-emergency response areas including: ambulance transport, auto extraction, code enforcement, confined space rescue, fire prevention, fire suppression, hazardous material, high-angle rescue, ice / water rescue, public education, and trench rescue.

Full Time Opportunity with the Muscatine County Joint Communications Center (MUSCOM)

Public Safety Dispatcher (Starting at $24.12/hr): Job duties include but are not limited to: answering emergency and non-emergency phone calls and processing requests for assistance for law enforcement, fire and medical services. Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED, keyboarding/typing experience and ability to obtain and maintain CPR certification and Emergency Medical Dispatch certification. Experience in telephone or radio operations and previous dispatch experience is preferred, but not required. Must be available to work days, nights, holidays, weekends and on 12 hours shifts. Starting hourly wage is $24.12 (negotiable, if experienced). Applicant orientation and testing will be scheduled after the deadline.
