New Illinois Soybean Association CEO wants to hear from farmers

The new CEO of the Illinois Soybean Association says hearing from farmers and working WITH them is his top priority.

John Lumpe tells Brownfield, “I want them to come up to me. I am very approachable. I want to work with all of the commodity groups. We are trying to build some new bridges and mend some fences and really just plan ahead.”

Lumpe says for his 100-day plan, he is meeting with farmers, members and staff one-on-one to get their input on a new strategic plan.

“It is not to reshape the organization because it is really in good shape, but it just needs a couple turns of the wrench to tighten some things up and look at some new opportunities.”

Prior to joining ISA, Lumpe worked for agriculture clients through a public relations agency and has also worked for the Ohio Soybean Association.

Brownfield interviewed Lumpe at the Grain and Feed Association of Illinois’ annual convention in Springfield.
