Grain markets cower as coronavirus spreads
Grain and livestock futures opened sharply lower today on demand concerns and losses in the broader market as the coronavirus continues to spread globally.
The World Health Organization says the virus was confirmed in eight new countries over the weekend bringing the total number of cases above 105,000.
The Centers for Disease Control says in the US, 164 cases have been confirmed in 19 states as of Friday with 11 deaths. To prevent and reduce the spread of coronavirus, the CDC recommends practicing everyday prevention measures including frequent hand washing and staying home when sick.
