McKinney sees diversity key in increasing exports
USDA Under Secretary for Trade Ted McKinney says he’s most proud of how ag markets have diversified during his time in the Trump Administration.
“If I have one legacy, I hope that it is that we have helped to at least start to diversify our portfolio.”
He says relying too much on one customer can lead to trouble like what’s happened with China and sees expansion in India and in growing nations.
“Bangladesh, a little larger, but Thailand, Philippines, Indonesia, and Malaysia—I think I look at them all about the same way, they’re growing.”
McKinney has traveled to about 25 counties in his position to expand ag trade with an upcoming mission to North Africa postponed because of the coronavirus.
