Cold temps raise wheat concerns
Temperatures in hard red winter wheat country fell into the teens Sunday night and Monday morning in western parts of Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma. Low 20’s were common elsewhere.
A freeze at this time of year is not unusual, but there is greater concern this spring because the crop is ahead of schedule in its development with some key areas of Kansas well into the jointing stage.
One analyst says while major yield losses are not likely, it could take the top end off what looks to be a good crop.
