Farmers for Free Trade report highlights policy suggestions for Biden Administration

A new report organized by Farmers for Free Trade serves as a blueprint of policy suggestions for the incoming administration on key agriculture issues.

The Roadmap for Trade, Supply Chains and the Future of American Agriculture Report is a compilation of a virtual town hall discussion series with farmers, ag leaders, and related industries across the country in 2020.

The report requests market access by focusing on key trade agreements including completion of phase two with China, developing a strategy to join the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans-Pacific Partnership and exploring trade deals with Southeast Asia. Requests are also made to resolve tariff and non-tariff barriers including retaliatory tariffs from China and lifting ethanol bans in major international markets.

The report also asks the administration to prioritize the modernization of supply chain infrastructure including rail, ports and inland waterways as well as expanding rural broadband access. Support for innovation policy is also expressed including the establishment of a low-carbon octane standard removing barriers to higher blends of ethanol to help achieve cleaner air.
