ASA outlines farm bill priorities in Senate Ag subcommittee hearing

The American Soybean Association says Congress needs to improve protections for farmers and ranchers in the next farm bill.

Testifying before a Senate Ag subcommittee on Tuesday, ASA Secretary Caleb Ragland said soybean producers depend on a steady farm safety net.

“In a February report, USDA projected a 21% decline in net cash farm income in 2023 relative to 2022.”

And, he says crop insurance must remain affordable.

“This is the most effective and important component of the farm safety net for soybean farmers,” Ragland said.
