Planting has started in Arkansas – Voice Of Muscatine

Planting has started in Arkansas

Spring planting is underway in parts of Arkansas.

The USDA says a mostly dry pattern at the end of the month allowed for early corn, soybean, and even rice planting in some areas, while other parts of the state were able to till ahead of row crop planting.

That mostly dry pattern did lower soil moisture levels, but those were likely improved at least a little by this week’s rainfall.

Livestock grazing has been boosted by the growth of fescue and cool season annuals.
