Wisconsin farmers take advantage of warm, dry week

Wisconsin farmers took advantage of above normal temperatures and plenty of sunshine last week.

The latest weekly crop report from USDA shows soybean harvest now at 46 percent complete, more than two weeks ahead of a year ago and a week ahead of average.

The corn for grain harvest, at 15 percent done, is 18 days ahead of last year and three days faster than normal.

Corn moisture is averaging 23 percent.

Farmers were also finishing up silage chopping, with reports of winter wheat, rye and other cover crops being planted.

The potato harvest reached 90 percent, 13 days ahead of 2019 and about a week ahead of the five-year average.
