USGC values experience Vilsack gained while leading US Dairy Export Council

The U.S. Grains Council sees Ag Secretary nominee Tom Vilsack’s experience leading the U.S. Dairy Export Council as a major plus for agriculture.

USGC senior vice president of global programs Cary Siferath tells Brownfield Vilsack is a popular choice because of his eight years at the top of USDA working for the Obama Administration.

“Having him be part of (the Biden Administration) and coming from the U.S. Dairy Export Council the past four years, being quite involved in U.S. exports, trade, and promotion of exports. So I think we can continue that.”

He says USGC wants the Biden Administration to maintain progress with China.

“As we look to expand that trade relationship even beyond the two years of the Phase One trade agreement.”

Siferath is also anxious for Biden to name his USDA undersecretary nominees, especially the undersecretary for trade and foreign affairs previously held by Ted McKinney.
